JAZZ DARIUS is an ATL and LA based filmmaker. She attended went to UGA where she double majored in media business and computer science. She recently graduated from LOYOLA MARYMOUNT’S prestigious graduate film school in 2024.

People always wanted to see her work, and she always got the same thing: “why don’t you put your stuff on YouTube? That way you’ll gain a following”

And she did! But her work was always buried under the YouTube/Instagram algorithm that favors low effort content and content creators. So all the hard and serious films were going unnoticed while this low effort content was gaining huge followings and brand deals.

So she said -

“There needs to be a social network just for us - where we cannot only get our work scene but it’ll be a home hub for serious filmmakers”.

We can post casting calls, share budgets, raise money, share scripts, and all while gaining traction and a following.

Seeing niche film platforms like LETTERBOXD gave her nspiration that those passion platforms could work and get millions in valuation if executed correctly.

So she combined her degrees in media, business, film, and computer science to start PHOTAL. She believes in this dream, and she hopes you will too.
